Frequently Asked Questions {FAQ}
Why are you doing this?
Because I want to make a difference.
Because I can’t really become comfortable with the fact that in 2007, in the good ol’ United States, we still have homeless children struggling for a meal.
Because I love to run. I feel privileged to have a life where I can train at my own pace and schedule runs into my daily routine. Running ultramarathons provides the intense physical, mental and emotional challenges that helps me to learn more about myself, what I am made of and how I can adapt to severe physical conditions. …”testing myself”, if you will.

How can I help?
Donate. Anything. Five bucks, twenty bucks, five hundred bucks, it doesn’t really matter how much you offer. What matters is that your offered. I assure you, none of your money goes to my training, or race travel. It will all go to these kids. 100% of the donation amount will go towards Project Kids Eat. Period. That’s a promise.
Have you ever run an ultramarathon before?
An ultramarathon is defined as any distance beyond the 26.2 mile distance of a traditional marathon. I have run four ultramarathon races so far in my 2006-2007 training, the Black Warrior 50K in the Bankhead National Forest near Huntsville, Alabama, and the Sweetwater 50K, now dubbed “Georgia’s Toughest 50K”, at the Sweetwater trails in Atlanta, Georgia. If accepted to the field of participants, I expect to run the Hot to Trot 8-hour race in Decatur, Georgia on August 4, and if I am feeling exceptionally strong in September, I may run a 50K race as one of my training long runs. It’s all in the training.
6/29/2007 Update: I was accepted to the participate field for the 2007 Hot to Trot and will be running the 8-hour race, August 4, 2007.
From the Hot to Trot acceptance email:
“Welcome to the 2007 Hot To Trot 8 Hour Run! Your entry has been received and accepted. If you entered this race in error, good for you! By virtue of being accepted, you have been included in a class of runners known to have totally lost control of their senses. Yes, you are insane. Accept it…”
8/11/2007 Update: I ran the most inspirational ultra run of my life at Laurel Valley
