Thunder Rock 100

Rock/Creek Thunder Rock 100 Mile Trail Race

Rock Creek is well-known for putting on spectacular race events. Always rugged, but always fun and well-supported, and we expect their entry into the 100-mile race event category to be no different.

It’s a point-to-point 100 mile trail race that will take place in the Cherokee National Forest area around the Hiwassee River and Ocoee River. This race WILL be a part of the Salomon Rock/Creek Trail Series, but final details and date for this race are yet to be confirmed.

I don’t know about you, but I must run this event!

Update, September 27, 2013

Race start: 12 noon on Friday, May 16, 2014. Mark your calendars! After considering a number of factors including turkey season, concurrent events and runner feedback, May 16 (and 17th, of course) was selected as the best option. The noon start ensures that runners will traverse the most technical portions of the course during daylight hours, and that even the fastest runners will experience a sunrise during their run. Look for plenty of details about the course itself, along with everything else you’ll want to know, soon.

As promised, you will be the FIRST to know when registration opens. The runners on this email list are going to receive advance notice when we open race registration. This is going to happen very soon, so add this email address to your contacts list and be ready for an email announcing that we’re open. Registration will be through UltraSignup. We don’t think it will sell out immediately, but we do think it will fill despite being a first-year event.

Look forward to more details on the event.

Hopefully it serves as a Hardrock qualifier. If it does I will run it. If not, I will be running Grindstone or Massanutten.

Cool – thanks David. Any insight on an event date?
