Learning to give

November 3, 2007 I will be running the Mountain Masochist 50-mile trail run in Lynchburg, Virginia. The race is a fifty mile, point-to-point trail run covering the mountain ranges from Lynchburg to Montebello.

Running 50 miles for charity

I’m not a fan of some of the current methods of ‘giving back’. When donating to huge charities like the American Foundation for the Blind or the American Heart Association, it seems as though your money just enters some vacuum and there’s really no true understanding of where it actually goes or who specifically benefits.

I want to try a different way of giving. I want to be able to see the people the I’m helping. I want to meet them and be an active participant in generating funds for their needs.
